Description::
Single Family home situated on 1.25 acres in a very
private and secluded community. 38 Algonkin Drive in
the community of Pleasant Valley West about 20 minutes
outside of Jim Thorpe PA proper (directions below should
be used; Map quest dials into a similar address about 5
miles away).
The neighborhood is situated in the middle of a wildlife
management area. That in turn is surrounded and abuts
about 3000 acres of parkland, nature at its best! This
raised ranch was completely gutted; it’s 70% new. The
inside contains three bedrooms (queen in the master, 2
twins and two bunk beds) and a queen pullout couch.
There are 2 full baths, the one off the master is very
large and could accept wheelchair access as this floor
is on ground level (Raised ranch).
The
kitchen has ample cabinets, counter and the stainless
appliances give you a feel of being in a “chef’s
kitchen”, a nice change from the dated amenities that
clutter most of the Pocono’s. The table can seat up to
10 very comfortable and we have spared no expense with
various appliances, cookware etc. in an effort to make
the cooking an event. The living room contains a
fireplace; nice seating that blends into the kitchen to
create a great room with oversized ceilings and a black
bear theme to honor our neighbors.
The two upstairs bedrooms both have large closets and
ample storage, they share a full bath and a slider leads
on to the carpeted sunning deck from one of the rooms.
Downstairs you enter the media/game room. Foosball,
darts and a poker table will keep you occupied. We have
a chest full of games, toys and kid related items as
well. The door to the single car garage is found off
this room, great for storing your ski’s, ATV’s or bikes.
The room continues with the black leather furniture
theme from upstairs, the couch turning into a queen
sleeper for guests # 7 and 8.
Off
of the media room you will find the master bedroom. Nice
lighting, super grand closet and yet very inviting for
lounging. The master bath is directly off both of these
rooms and hidden in the closet is a full sized closet
washer/dryer for your use. Linens and towels are
provided and all you need to do is wash them upon your
exit.
Outside
the home contains a wraparound deck with two distinct
areas, dining (including a gas grill, table and umbrella
and the sunning area with a table and lounge chairs.
Once you go down into the yard, you begin to remember
you’re in the woods. Rustic outbuilding with a shed (we
may convert to a bar, stay tuned) and a child playhouse.
Old time swing in a tree along with a swing set for the
kids. Fire pit/charcoal grill and horse shoe pits, all
surrounded by the wild mountain laurel and rhododendron
that is my natural privacy fence. The driveway is a
semi-circle and can handle all the cars you could drive
(8-10) and you will be hard pressed to see the
neighbors, although 6 live on the street, really!
This home is 21st century on the inside, but I have left
it as natural as I found it outside. Truly a retreat
that you and your party will enjoy, so close to nature
and so close to everything else. Welcome to “The Bear
Den”!
